Wofford Falls 74-55 at UNCG Wednesday

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wofford men's basketball team fell 74-55 to UNCG on Wednesday night in the Greensboro Coliseum. With the loss, Wofford falls to 13-15 on the season and 8-7 in Southern Conference play, while UNCG improves to 19-8 overall, 10-4 in conference action and clinches a first round bye in the conference tournament. The Terriers and Spartans split the season series as Wofford won 93-74 in the Jan. 25th meeting.

Cameron Jackson led Wofford with 15 points. The sophomore went 4-8 from the field and 7-9 from the free throw line. Fletcher Magee, the SoCon player of the week, followed with 12 points and Nathan Hoover added 10. Eric Garcia dished out six assists to just one turnover.

UNCG scored first as Francis Alonso found RJ White under the basket for a dunk. The Spartans led the entire first half as Wofford struggled to get in a rhythm offensively. The Spartans held the Terriers scoreless until the 13:05 mark when Magee sunk an open three to put Wofford on the board. Matthew Pegram made a layup with just under three minutes to go in the half to keep UNCG's lead to 10 but the Spartans ended the half on a 7-0 run to take a 38-21 lead into the locker room. Wofford shot 29% from the field in the half and UNCG shot 57%.

The Spartans didn't let up in the second half and kept the Terriers at bay to clinch the win. UNCG had 36 points in the paint to just 14 points from Wofford, which proved to be a big difference in the game. The Spartans also led 26-13 in bench points. Wofford shot 30.8% for the game while UNCG shot 53.8%.

Three Spartans finished in double figure led by Diante Baldwin with 24 points.
