GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team fell, 5-2, at UNCG on Saturday afternoon in Greensboro.

The loss drops the Terriers to 9-8 on the season and 0-2 in SoCon competition.

In doubles play, the Spartans were able to take the deciding match in a tiebreaker to earn the early 1-0 advantage. UNCG's no. 3 doubles team of Corinne Blythe and Sophia Adams took their match, 6-2. However, the Terriers responded with a 6-2 win at no 1 behind
Kalli Karas and
Cassidy Hicks. In the no. 2 doubles match, the Spartans team of Blaine Boaz and Nancy Bridges defeated
Catherine Martin and
Lauren Reid, 7-6, to take the match.

As the match moved to singles competition, the Spartans capitalized on the momentum they created in doubles by winning the first two matches to be completed and moving within one point of clinching a victory. Down 3-0, Karas put a point on the board for Wofford with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Bridges at no. 3.

Unfortunately, UNCG clinched the match with Masey DeMoss's 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 win at the no. 1 position. With the match clinched for the Spartans, the two teams split the remaining two matches.
Curran Carver continued her stellar season for the Terriers, winning 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5) to improve her record to 10-3 on the season.

With her win at no. 3, Karas now leads the team with 11 singles wins in 2017.

Up next, the Terriers will step out of conference to host UNC Asheville this Friday, March 31 at 2 p.m.
