BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – The Wofford women's tennis team fell, 4-3, in a back and forth match at Samford on Sunday afternoon.

The loss drops the Terriers to 10-9 on the season.

In doubles play, Wofford was able to win the deciding match at the no. 2 spot to clinch the first point. The Bulldogs struck first in doubles, as they won 6-2 at no. 3. Then,
Kalli Karas and
Cassidy Hicks continued their strong play with a 6-3 win at the no. 1 position. In a close match at no. 2, Wofford's team of
Catherine Martin and
Lauren Reid prevailed, 7-5, to give the Terriers the early advantage.

Samford responded with quick, straight set wins from their no. 6 and no. 3 slots to take a 2-1 lead in the match. The Terriers tied the match at 2-2 on
Lauren Reid's 6-3, 6-2 win at no. 4

The Bulldogs took a 3-2 lead on Grace Jennings' 6-2, 7-5 win at the no. 5 spot, before Wofford answered as Hicks rallied back after dropping the first set to tie the match at 3-3 with her 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win at no. 2. With the match tied, Samford's Ellie Gerlach won 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 at no. 1 to give the Bulldogs the narrow victory.
