SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team fell to ETSU, 4-0, on Friday afternoon in the SoCon Tournament First Round at Reeves Tennis Center in Spartanburg.
 
The loss concludes the Terriers 2017 season at 11-13.
 
The Buccaneers took control of the match by winning the first two doubles matches. First, they took the match at no. 3, as Jayde Viccars and Melissa Esguerra defeated Taylor Carlson and Emily Erickson, 6-1.

Moments later, the Buccaneers clinched the point with another 6-1 win, this time from Alory Pereira and Yi Chi Ma at no. 2. The no. 1 doubles match was unfinished.
 
ETSU took the first singles match, when Markesini won, 6-0, 6-4 at the no. 2 position.  Next, Marina Espana won, 6-3, 6-2, in the no. 1 spot.
 
Holding a 3-0 lead, the Buccaneers clinched the match on Pereira's 6-1, 6-2 win at the no. 3 position.
 
With a 4-0 win clinched for ETSU, the remaining three matches that were in the second set went unfinished.
 
Wofford's Curran Carver was up 6-3, 2-1 when her match was called.
 
The team's 11 wins in the 2017 season marks the first time the program has achieved back to back season of at least 10 wins since 2005 and 2006.
