th minute and scored two insurance goals to secure the win. Wofford drops to 0-9 on the season and 0-1 in the Southern Conference.
Â
The Bears got the scoring started in the 17
th minute when a throw-in into the penalty area found Conner Antley who crossed it to Jake Mezei at the far post who buried it behind
Matthew Reynolds. Just over a minute later Mercer added to their lead in a similar fashion when Antley found Will Bagrou in the box who headed it just over the outstretched arms of
Matthew Reynolds increasing the halftime lead to two.
Â
The Terriers continued to generate offensive opportunities in the second half but the ball continued to bounce Mercer's way. In the 49
th minute Mercer sent a corner kick into the box that
Matthew Reynolds punched incidentally into the Terrier net.
Wofford responded just thirty seconds later when
Jack Sicker dribbled down the field beating numerous defenders and buried a goal past the Mercer keeper to pull the Terriers with in two. The Bears continued to play the possession game and outlasted the Terrier comeback, holding on for a 3-1 final.
Â
Despite the loss the Terriers totaled seven shots and four shots on goal. In the match
Jack Sicker picked up his first goal of the season.
