SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men's soccer team picked up a crucial SoCon win on Saturday night, surviving a hard fought match over Belmont, 3-2, at Snyder Field. Three different Terriers scored in the match for the first time this season, moving Wofford to 2-3 in conference play and 3-10-1 overall on the season.

Belmont got on the scoreboard first in the 30
th minute, as Niccolo Dagnoni fired a shot from the top of the box that got a friendly curve to meet the top left corner of the net, giving the Bruins the 1-0 lead. A costly Belmont foul would then go on set up the Terriers first goal of the night in the 43
rd minute, with
Brett Goodman finishing a free kick into the box from
Connor Donohue that deflected off teammate
Dredon Kelly for the easy chip in. Following the equalizer, both teams played steady over the duration of play to send the game tied at 1-1 heading into the intermission.

The Terriers came out the half strong, managing to take a 2-1 lead in the 50
th minute of play.
Ade Akinjogbin would send a textbook cross into the left side of the box, as
Connor Donohue finished the feed rocketing a shot into the back of the net. The Bruins played resilient in the second half, responding with a goal of their own shortly after in the 56
th minute to make the score even at 2-2. Another foul would prove to cost Belmont going forward, setting up the Terriers third goal of the night in the 65
th minute.
Kyle Nelson was able to corral a free kick, laid out into the box just past midfield from
Zach Aversano, to find the bottom left corner of the net to give the Terriers the lead, 3-2. Belmont responded with a relentless attack, making the Terriers work for the win with a series of blocks and saves by
Grant Wollam. The Bruins had several close scoring opportunities from inside the box late, however, the Terriers would narrowly hold on to the lead, earning the 3-2 win at the end of regulation.

Connor Donohue added three points on the night, with a goal and assist, while
Kyle Nelson and
Brett Goodman earned their third and first goals of the season respectively, with Goodman's being his first as a Terrier. Additionally,
Dredon Kelly and
Ade Akinjogbin were both credited with assists in the match.

The Terriers also saw efforts from
Lucas Altman, with three shots, while
Chandler Compton,
Zach Aversano,
Ben Nickol,
Andreas Suri, and
Christian Womeldorph all tallied one shot each.

Grant Wollam earned the win, recording four saves in the match.

The Terriers return to the pitch on Tuesday, October 23, traveling to face VMI for a 3 p.m. SoCon matchup.
