SPARTANBURG, S.C. - After falling behind 0-1, the Wofford volleyball team rallied to win three straight sets to defeat Samford on Saturday night. The Terriers were edged out 25-23 in the first set, but took set two 25-22, set three 29-27 and set four 25-22 to pick up the victory.

Taylor Gill racked up a season-high 32 digs while
Bijonae Jones and
Alex Holland each sent home 13 kills.
Lorissa King continued to set up her teammates, totaling 22 assists in the win.
The two sides looked evenly matched to start set one, but a Samford timeout prompted a 5-0 run that put the Bulldogs in front 18-16. After Wofford rallied to tie the set at 22, an pair of errors and a kill from Lauren Deaton gave set one to the Bulldogs.
Like the first set, Wofford and Samford were neck and neck in the early going of set two, but this time it was Wofford to took the lead after scoring four point in a row to make the score 18-15. Samford rallied back to take a one-point lead (19-18), but an error moments later gave Wofford a 23-22 advantage down the stretch. Holland made it set point when she recorded one of her 13 kills, forcing an error by the Bulldogs to even the match at one set apiece.
The Terriers took control of set three early, jumping out to a 10-6 advantage. Samford would rally however, taking a 20-18 lead as the two sides battled back and forth. Wofford would twice face set point but rallied each time, ultimately tying the set at 27-27, setting up a Holland kill and a Gill service ace to take the crucial third set.
With the score 16-16 in the fourth, Wofford took seven of the next nine points as they looked to close out the Bulldogs. Samford rallied to make the score 24-22, but the Terriers claimed victory when Jones slammed her 13th kill of the night to send Wofford home with the 3-1 win.
Wofford now improves its overall record to 12-11 and are 5-5 in SoCon play. The Terriers hit the road on Friday, facing Mercer at 6 p.m.
