CHARLESTON, S.C. - Six players recorded five or more kills as the Wofford volleyball team swept The Citadel on Saturday night. Led by
Catie Cronister's 13 kills, Wofford dominated the first set 25-17, took the second 25-20 and claimed the third 25-19 for the season sweep over the Bulldogs.
The Citadel matched Wofford to start the first set, grabbing an 8-6 lead after an Alicia Roberts kill. Cronister,
Noa Miller and
Bijonae Jones each recorded a kill as Wofford took a 9-8 lead. The Terriers struggled to put the Bulldogs away until late, taking seven of the last eight points to claim the first set.
After the two sides traded points to begin the second, Wofford went on a 9-0 run to take a commanding 12-4 advantage. After extending the lead to 10, The Citadel would climb back into the set, making the score 20-18 after a pair of errors by the Terriers. Cronister would take over at this point, sending home three-straight kills to grab the momentum, setting up a
Lauren Miller kill to make the score 2-0 in favor of Wofford.
Wofford took a 4-3 lead in the third set and would never trail, establishing breathing room during the middle of the set when Jones recorded a kill and The Citadel committed a pair of errors to make the score 16-11. The Bulldogs cut into the deficit by taking four points in a row, but a
Lauren Miller kill stopped the run as Wofford closed out the match to clinch the sweep.
The Terriers now sit at 13-12 on the season and are 6-6 in conference. Wofford returns home for its last two home games of the season, hosting Western Carolina on Friday before welcoming ETSU on Saturday.
