RALEIGH, N.C. - The Wofford men's golf team capped off the 2018 Wolfpack Intercollegiate on Sunday, finishing 11th in a field of 15 teams. The Terriers shot a 291 in round three to finish with a 6-over-par 870 after posting a 293 and 286 in rounds one and two on Saturday.

The tournament was won by the host, N.C. State, who paced the field with a 31-under-par 833 to win comfortably. Jacksonville came in second place as a team, posting a 24-under-par while UNCG finished third, shooting 18 under for the tournament.

"I was proud of our fight this week," said Wofford head coach Alex Hamilton. "We were able to hang tough and beat some very solid programs which was nice to see."

Walker Simas had a huge round three for the Terriers, shooting a 5-under-par 67 to catapult himself to a tie for 28th place with a score of  even par (216).

"Walker's (Simas) round today was exceptional," said Hamilton. "Walker played some of the best golf I've seen this year. Just a really solid and patient round that also featured two incredible eagles."

Walker Jones continued his solid play, posting a 1-over-par 217 for the tournament to finish tied for 35th place overall.

Sophomore Nick Willis was steady all tournament, opening up with a 74 in round one but shooting even par in both rounds two and three. Coming off his strong showing in the Hummingbird Intercollegiate, Matthew Copeland posted a 4-over-par 220 in Raleigh. Sophomore Stuart Fuller tallied a 229 in the three rounds, posting a 1-over-par 73 in Saturday's second round.

The Terriers are next in action on October 15, traveling to Elon to compete in the Elon Invitational.

"We have another quick turnaround with the Elon Invitational this upcoming weekend. I'm looking forward to continuing to see some more growth out of our guys with the chance to complete at a wonderful venue at the Alamance Country Club," Hamilton said.
