SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's basketball team remains unbeaten at home, as the Terriers weathered the storm to earn a 59-53 comeback win against Gardner-Webb at Richardson Indoor Stadium on Thursday night. The Terriers held Gardner-Webb to an impressive 25 percent (8-32 FG) shooting from the field in the second half, including shooting 8 percent (1-12 3FG) from beyond the arc. The win moves Wofford's record to 4-4 while the Runnin' Bulldogs drop to 4-2.

The Terriers opened the game on a layup and jumpers from
Marissa Bayer and
Da'Ja Green respectively before Gardner-Webb would bounce back on a pair of jumpers and 3-pointer to take an 8-6 lead early on. Both teams went on to trade baskets up until Gardner-Webb's twin duo of Carley and Savannah Plentovich, who both lead the Runnin' Bulldogs in scoring, would knock down consecutive jumpers to take a 15-10 lead at the 2:20 mark. Jackie Carman responded with a trey ball while
Da'Ja Green would connect on a mid-range jumper to knot the score at 15-15 at the end of the quarter.

Both teams would continue to trade baskets with the score tied at 22-22 just under the halfway mark of the quarter. A free throw and 3-pointer by Gardner-Webb would spark a quick 5-0 run to give the Runnin' Bulldogs a 29-24 cushion, though, a
Niyah Lutz layup would cut the deficit to three shortly after. Gardner-Webb would knock down two more jumpers, as Carman would convert two free throws to send the game at 33-28 heading into the intermission.

Gardner-Webb would come out the break earning its largest lead of the game, 42-34, by the 3:15 mark of the frame. The Terriers played resilient though, responding with a 9-0 run that was sparked by a
Jamari McDavid layup dished by
Jackie Carman. The run saw a pair of layups from McDavid, along with free throws from
Marissa Bayer and
Da'Ja Green, tying the score at 44-44 by the end of the third quarter.

The Terriers would take the lead, 45-43, on a McDavid finish from Green to start the quarter, as both teams traded scores with Wofford maintaining a two-point advantage on layups from
Cairo Booker,
MaryMartha Turner, and McDavid before fouling out soon after. Bayer went on to give the Terriers a three-point cushion on a free throw at the 1:35 mark, as the Runnin' Bulldogs would begin to foul and force Wofford to earn its points from the line for the remainder of the contest.
Jackie Carman and
Chloe Wanink would then go on to hit consecutive free throws to seal the deal, picking up the 59-53 win at the end of regulation.

The Terriers had a tough shooting night, finishing 33 percent (18-54 FG, 1-11 3FG) from the field in the contest, though, free throws would carry them late in the game as Wofford shot 22-of-27 (82 percent) from the line. Wofford also took the edge in rebounds over the Runnin' Bulldogs on the night, 44-32.

Four Terriers scored in double figures as
Jamari McDavid led the Terriers on the night, earning her second career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds (4-6 FG, 4-4 FT).
Da'Ja Green (10 points, seven rebounds, five assists),
Chloe Wanink (10 points, five rebounds, one assist), and
Marissa Bayer (10 points, four rebounds) round out the double-figure scorers for Wofford on the night, while the Terriers also received efforts from
Jackie Carman (seven points, three rebounds) and
Cairo Booker (six points, six rebounds, one assist, two steals).
