ATLANTA, Ga. – Georgia Tech's length and athleticism proved too much for the Terriers, as the Wofford women's basketball team took a tough loss on the road, 81-40, on Sunday afternoon at McCamish Pavilion. Georgia Tech moves to 10-3 overall while the loss drops Wofford to an even 7-7 record heading into the New Year.

The Yellow Jackets dominated all-around, as they held the Terriers to 16-of-60 shooting (26.7%), while forcing 24 turnovers and outrebounding Wofford, 58-28. Additionally, Georgia Tech converted 24 second chance points, while totaling 38 points in the paint off turnovers and fast breaks.

Sophomore
Jamari McDavid led the Terriers with a team-high eight points and three rebounds, while redshirt-junior
Chloe Wanink followed with seven points, two rebounds, and an assist. Freshman
Niyah Lutz finished with six points, seven rebounds, and two assists, as classmate
Alexis Tomlin also would finish with six points, adding three rebounds.

Jackie Carman (three points, four rebounds),
Cairo Booker (three points),
Marissa Bayer (two points, two rebounds), and
MaryMartha Turner (two points) round out the scoring for Wofford on the day.

The Yellow Jackets came out scoring the first eight points of the contest, forcing five straight Wofford turnovers through its full-court pressure by the 7:08 mark. Francesca Pan, Georgia Tech's leading scorer, knocked down a top of the key 3-pointer before the Yellow Jackets would push a 19-0 lead with 1:55 left. Wofford was held scoreless for the first nine minutes of play up until
Niyah Lutz would find
MaryMartha Turner for a jumper to put the Terriers on the board, 19-2, by the end of the first quarter.

The Terriers began to break the press, as Lutz and
Jamari McDavid would convert a pair of layups to start the period, though, Georgia Tech would increase their lead to 28-6 by 5:45. The Terriers would see five points from
Chloe Wanink, along with a pair of buckets from McDavid and
Alexis Tomlin, however, the Yellow Jackets continued to thrive in taking a commanding 43-16 lead at the half, highlighted by Georgia Tech freshman Elizabeth Balogun's 12 points in the frame.

Georgia Tech went 18-for-39 (46.2%) from the field, behind Balogun's 16 points, in the first half, as 20 of their points came from the paint and 12 came off turnovers. The Terriers were held to 7-of-27 (25.9%) shooting, led by Wanink with five points, while also being outrebounded 29-13.

A pair of layups from
Niyah Lutz and
Marissa Bayer would start the second half, before the Yellow Jackets would spark a 10-2 run over a five-minute span to make the score 53-20.
Jackie Carman connected on a 3-pointer, followed by a Wanink pull-up jumper, though, Georgia Tech's Lorela Cubaj and Elizabeth Dixon would both come alive, combining for 17 points in the period to send the score at 64-28 into the fourth.

The Terriers would see scores from Tomlin, McDavid,
Da'Ja Green, and
Cairo Booker throughout the fourth quarter, though, the Yellow Jackets would control the rest of the way, maintaining a 40-point lead for the duration of the contest.

Georgia Tech went 32-for-73 (43.8%) for the contest, including shooting 6-of-19 (31.6%) from beyond the arc. Freshman Elizabeth Balogun led all three double-figure scorers for the Yellow Jackets with a game-high 24 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Lorela Cubaj and freshman Elizabeth Dixon followed with 13 and 10 points respectively.
