JOHNSON CITY, TN. – The Wofford women's basketball team fell 82-51 to ETSU on Thursday morning at Brooks Gym. Wofford turned it over a season-high 13 times in the first half, allowing the Bucs to open up a 14 point lead at the half which proved too great a deficit for the Terriers to overcome. With the loss, Wofford moves to 10-17 on the season and 3-9 in the Southern Conference with just two regular season games remaining.

ETSU opened the game on fire from the field, knocking down eight of its first 14 shots including one from downtown. Despite the hot shooting and full court pressure from the Bucs, Wofford remained tough trailing by one at the first media timeout. Out of the break, ETSU scored seven straight, extending the lead to 18-10 with just over two minutes to play. At the end of one period, the Bucs led 18-12 after forcing Wofford into five turnovers which allowed ETSU to get out and run in transition.

The Bucs continued the fast pace of play in the second quarter, ripping off a 10-2 run over the first two minutes while extending the lead to 28-14. The defense of ETSU held Wofford to just two field goals in the first seven minutes of the second quarter allowing the Bucs to open a 19 point lead at the 3:50 mark of the period. The Terriers than ripped off a 10-5 run to end the period, cutting the Buccaneer lead to 40-26 at the half time break.
Jamari McDavid paced Wofford in the first half with 12 points and six boards while
Da'Ja Green added seven points, two rebounds and two assists.

ETSU responded well, by going on an 11-6 run to open the third quarter to increase the lead back to 19 at the media timeout. The Bucs hot shooting continued as the team went 8-13 (58%) in the first seven minutes extending the lead to 24. Despite the deficit, Wofford continue to fight but ETSU's quickness on the defensive end proved to be too much to handle for the Terriers.

In the loss, Wofford turned it over a season high 26 times, allowing ETSU to convert 29 points off of the giveaways. As a team the Terriers shot just 19-58 (32%) while ETSU went 32-66 (48%) from the floor. McDavid led the team with 16 points, nine rebounds while
Cairo Booker added 15 points, eight boards and two assists. Â Â

Wofford will return to the court on Saturday when the team travels to Chattanooga to face off against the Mocs at 2 PM. The Terriers will then complete the regular season on Saturday, February 24 with a road contest against Furman at 2 PM.
