GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Wofford women's lacrosse team fell 20-2 to Furman on Saturday afternoon in Paladin Stadium. With the loss, Wofford's season concludes its inaugural season at 2-15 overall and 1-4 in Southern Conference action. Furman improves to 7-10 on the season and 3-2 in conference play.
Juniors
Jessica Borucki and
JoJo Franklin scored for the Terriers.
Kelsey Thompson played 60 minutes in goal and recorded 13 saves.
Furman scored the first goal of the game a minute and a half into play, The Paladins tacked on five more goals in the next seven minutes to hold a 6-0 lead with 20:59 left in the half.
Jessica Borucki put the Terriers on the board on a pass from
Delaney Irwin to cut the lead to five less than a minute later. In the final 20 minutes of the half, Furman added four goals and held a 10-1 lead at the half.
Furman scored six goals over the first 14 minutes of the second half before
JoJo Franklin scored on a pass from
Paige Sedlar. Furman scored four more goals and ran away with the 19-2 win.
Furman took 38 shots to Wofford's 10 and picked up 23 groundballs to Wofford's six. Furman converted 16 of 17 clear attempts while the Terriers were 9-17. Furman won 12 draw controls, just barely edging Wofford who finished with 11. The Terriers went 0-2 on free positions and the Paladins converted three of their six. Wofford committed 19 turnovers and Furman had six.
