MACON, Ga. – The Wofford women's lacrosse team fell 23-5 at Mercer on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, Wofford falls to 0-12 on the season and 0-1 in Southern Conference play. Mercer improves to 5-7 and 2-2 in conference action.

Lindsey Zeltwanger, the SoCon Offensive Player of the Month, scored the first goal of the game less than a minute in.
Delaney Irwin put the Terriers on the board just seconds later on a pass from
Hannah Mutch. Mercer scored the next two goals before
JoJo Franklin got a goal of her own, again on a pass from Mutch. Up 3-2, Mercer closed the half on a 12-0 run to hold a 15-2 lead at the half.

Mercer scored another goal to start the second half, but Franklin netted her second of the game just under 10 minutes into the half on a free position shot. Mercer answered with five goals before Mutch, who assisted on the first two goals of the game, scored one of her own to make it 21-4. Mutch leads Wofford with 15 goals scored this season. The Bears added two more goals, but then
Hannah Wurzel scored her first of the game and sixth of the season with 31 seconds left.

Mercer finished with 39 shots to Wofford's seven, all of which were on goal. The Bears won 22 draw controls, while Wofford won six and the Bears had more ground balls, 16-11. Wofford was 6-7 on clear attempts and 1-1 on free position shots.

Freshman goalkeeper recorded eight saves in the loss.

Wofford returns home for the next two games. The Terriers welcome Detroit Mercy to Gibbs Stadium on Friday, April 13 at 5 p.m. and then conclude the home portion of the schedule on Saturday, April 15 at noon against Central Michigan. Wofford ends the regular season with three straight on the road.
