CLINTON, S.C. - The Wofford volleyball team fell to Presbyterian College in five sets on Tuesday night (27-25, 22-25, 21-25, 25-22, 11-15). The Terriers, which had three players reach double-digit kills, were led by
Catie Cronister's 19 kills and 14 digs.
Wofford's
Colleen Reilly totaled 17 kills while
Kelly Bossert had 13 and
Taylor Gill tallied 19 digs, marking the fifth-straight match in which the senior has had 19 or more digs. Junior
Lorissa King continues to be an assists machine, setting up a season-high 41 scores for the Terriers on Tuesday.
Looking to get back in the win column, Wofford jumped out to an early 6-2 lead over Presbyterian. The Blue Hose battled back, taking a 21-18 lead down the stretch in set one. A pair of errors by Presbyterian and kills by Wofford's
Kara Shacklette knotted the score up at 22-22 before taking the set on a Bossert kill. The Terriers held the lead for the early part of set two but, the Blue Hose gained control midway before claiming the victory.
Presbyterian controlled set three from the tip, looking to close out Wofford in the fourth. The Terriers would have to claw their way back in the fourth, claiming their first lead since the set was 4-3 when Gill set up Reilly for a kill to make the score 22-21, ultimately sending the match to a fifth and decisive set courtesy of another Reilly finish. Both teams traded points to open the fifth, but Presbyterian gained the lead around the midway point and finished off the match with an Allie Wright kill.
