SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Wofford volleyball team swept Gardner-Webb 25-14, 25-18, 25-14 at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium on Friday night.
Catie Cronister powered the Terrier attack with 12 kills while
Taylor Gill recorded 20 digs and
Lorissa King had 18 assists.
In the first set, Gardner-Webb hung tough, trailing 12-11 until a pair of kills from Cronister and another from Gill gave Wofford it's first comfortable lead at 15-11. The Terriers took 10 of the next 13 points to claim the set victory.
The Runnin' Bulldogs looked to even the score in the second, taking a 10-8 lead over the Terriers to start the set. After Wofford battled back to take a 19-17 lead,
Bijonae Jones and
Colleen Reilly sent home back-to-back kills to give the Terriers the momentum down the stretch. Reilly would later clinch the set when King set up the senior for a Kill to make the score 25-18 Wofford.
Determined to sweep, the Terriers controlled set three from the tip, blitzing the Runnin' Bulldogs to the tune of 15-5. Gardner-Webb could not make a run as, once again, King set up her teammate, this time
Alex Holland, to clinch the set with a kill.
Wofford improves to 6-6 on the season and returns to the court on Saturday at 12 p.m., facing Middle Tennessee at noon.
