SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Wofford volleyball team continued to roll at home, sweeping Middle Tennessee on Saturday to cap off the Wofford Invitational without dropping a set. The Terriers, who improved to 7-6 on the season, defeated the Blue Raiders 25-23, 25-23 and 28-26.

Wofford's Taylor Gill was named tournament MVP after recording 41 digs in just six sets played. Against Gardner-Webb, the senior totaled 20 digs to go with a kill and had 21 digs and a service ace against Middle Tennessee. Joining Gill on the All-Tournament squad are her teammates Catie Cronister and Colleen Reilly. Cronister paced the offense with 26 kills, 20 digs and a pair of service aces while Reilly totaled 18 kills and six total blocks in the two victories. 

The Terriers jumped out to a 6-2 advantage against Middle Tennessee, but saw the Blue Raiders battle back to take a 13-12 lead. With the score knotted up at 19-19, a pair of Reilly kills and Middle Tennessee errors gave Wofford what looked to be a comfortable 23-19 advantage. But the Blue Raiders responded with four scores of their own to tie the score at 23 apiece before the Terriers were able to close out the first set 25-23.

The two sides matched each other point-for-point to begin set two. With the score 11-10, Wofford reeled off six points in a row to take control of the set. Like set one, Middle Tennessee battled back to tie the set, this time at 20. Trailing 23-22, Alex Holland and Reilly sent home a pair of kills, setting up a Bijonae Jones service ace to take set two.

Looking to force a fourth set, Middle Tennessee controlled the third early, holding a 15-8 lead. With the score 20-14, Wofford won six of the next seven points to cut the lead to just one. Facing set point at 25-24, Cronister powered home a kill to extend the set. Cronister would finish off the match moments later, sending home her 13th and 14th kills of the afternoon to give Wofford the sweep. 

The Terriers return to the court on Friday, opening up SoCon play at Chattanooga at 6 p.m.
