Women’s Soccer Falls at Furman

Greenville, SC – The Wofford women's soccer team dropped their contest against Furman, falling 2-0 on Friday at Stone Field.

The Terriers threatened early on as in the 5th minute, Lainee Bohannon took a corner that went over the keeper's head and hit the crossbar. 11 minutes later, Furman forward Isabella Gutierrez found herself on the end of a through ball and scored to make it 1-0. Erin Wolfe had a chance in the 20th minute but was caught up by the Paladin defender before she could get her shot away.

Wofford came out firing in the 2nd half with three shots within the first 15 minutes. Lainee Bohannon thought she tied the game, but a diving save from Furman's keeper kept the score at 1-0. Cameron Burke then had two shots, but neither could find the back of the net. Furman would score again in the 65th minute after a corner was unable to be cleared by the Terriers, as Erin O'Hearn made it 2-0.

The Terriers would have two more chances before the final whistle. Bohannon had another attempt at goal, but once again was foiled by the keeper. Katie Gilligan would give Wofford one last gasp as she narrowly missed the target, right of the post.
Cameron Burke and Lainee Bohannon each had two shots, Bohannon's two testing the goalie. Allie Cardew also added a shot on goal, and Maria Mon made three saves.

Wofford will be back in action next week Friday, October 25 when they head to Macon, Georgia, to take on the Mercer Bears at 7 p.m.
