SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford football player
Blake Jeresaty has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Nov. 13-19. The selection is made by the league office.
Jeresaty, the starting center for Wofford, helped lead his team to a 24-7 win over Furman on Saturday to claim a share of the SoCon title and the league's automatic bid to the FCS playoffs. The Charleston, South Carolina, native paved the way as the Terriers rushed for 288 yards and three touchdowns while the offensive line did not give up a single sack for the ninth straight game this season.
Jeresaty is a double-major in economics and finance and currently holds a 3.92 grade point average. He was also recently named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for the second straight season.
Wofford will close out the regular season on Saturday when it travels to The Citadel for a noon kickoff.
Also nominated for SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week: Ben Varghese (ETSU men's cross country), Savannah Carnahan (Furman women's cross country) and Bryce Nunnelly (Chattanooga football).
