SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men's tennis team faced a setback on a clear windy day at Reeves Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon, falling to a sweep against the visiting ETSU Bucs in their SoCon opener. The doubles tandem of
Julian Chousa and
Javi Casasolas were the lone Terriers to come out victorious in a match on the day, as Wofford drops to 0-1 in conference and 3-7 overall, while the Bucs move to 6-3 and a 2-0 start in SoCon play.

The Bucs started the day off earning the doubles point after taking wins on the No. 3 and No. 2 courts.

Lucas Cerbelli and
John Crawford fell to ETSU's Sergi Fontcuberta and David Gonzalez, 6-2, as
Omar Williams and
Bryce Keim dropped their matchup on the No. 2 court, 6-3, to Yusuf Khamis and Frazier Rengifo.

Julian Chousa and
Javi Casasolas rallied for a comeback win in No. 1 doubles, after trailing 4-3 early on, to pick up their third doubles win as pair, though, the Bucs had secured the 1-0 lead prior to the match's finish.

The Bucs would then go on to jump out to a 3-0 lead in singles play after earning victories on the No. 4 and No. 3 courts.

ETSU's Yusuf Khamis would deliver Cerbelli his first loss of the year in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2, as
Edu Villar lost to Lugo on the No. 3 court shortly after.

Freshman
Bryce Keim played hard against Gonzalez in No. 5 singles, but would unfortunately drop a 6-4, 6-2 decision that would clinch the win early for the Bucs, leading 4-0.

Junior
Julian Chousa faced a challenge in Frazier Rengifo in No. 1 singles, coming up short 6-2, 6-3, while sophomore
Omar Williams would drop a hard-fought match on the No. 2 court to Fontcuberta (7-6, 6-3).

In the last match of the day on the No. 6 court, sophomore
Javi Casasolas would force a tiebreaker set against Miguel Este after dropping the first, 6-3. However, Este went on to outlast Casasolas to complete the sweep and give the Bucs their second conference win of the season.

Next, Wofford is scheduled to host the Samford on Friday, March 1 at Reeves Tennis Center. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
