GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Terriers were held to 12 points in the fourth quarter, as the Wofford women's basketball team fell 77-61 in Greensboro on Wednesday night to UNCG. The win moves the Spartans to 3-5 in the SoCon and 9-14 overall, as Wofford drops to 11-12 and 3-5 in conference.

The Terriers were held to 20-of-63 (31.7%) for the contest, connecting on just 4-of-13 (23.5%) shots from 3-point range. Wofford hit 17-of-21 (81.0%) free throws for the contest, while holding the edge in rebounds over the Spartans, 39-38. The Terriers also created 14 UNCG turnovers, accounting for 20 points in return.

Chloe Wanink led the way for Wofford with a team-high 17 points and three rebounds, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. Wanink was also 3-for-10 (30.0%) from deep range, moving her into third all-time in career 3-point field goals made with 143.

Sophomore
Da'Ja Green followed with another consecutive double-double performance, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds, in addition to five assists. Senior
Marissa Bayer (eight points, four rebounds), freshman
Alexis Tomlin (six points, two rebounds), and junior
Cairo Booker (seven points, one rebound, one assist) also gave solid efforts for the Terriers in the contest.

Balanced scoring for Wofford would give the Terriers a 13-7 lead by the 5:11 mark, seeing five points from
Chloe Wanink along with scores by
Da'Ja Green,
Cairo Booker, and
Jamari McDavid. Two UNCG layups brought the score within two before another Green layup and set of free throws from freshmen
Alexis Tomlin and
MaryMartha Turner went on to hold a 20-13 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Marissa Bayer would give the Terriers their largest lead of the half, 22-13, to start the second, however, UNCG's Te'ja Twitty and Aja Boyd would carry the Spartans over a six-minute span to deadlock the score at 26-26 with 2:18 left in the half. Four UNCG free throws would ensue, as the Spartans connected on 9-of-11 trips to the line in the quarter, to take a four-point lead, though, back-to-back trips to the line for Tomlin and Green would cut the lead to one at the intermission, 30-29.

The Terriers shot 10-for-32 (31.3%), led by
Da'Ja Green and
Chloe Wanink with eight and seven first-half points respectively. UNCG shot 40 percent (10-25 FG) from the floor in the half, making the difference in the contest at the free throw line on 81.8 percent (9-11 FT) shooting from the stripe.

Wofford opened the half taking a one-point lead, 33-32, behind a free throw and Wanink 3-pointer, though, UNCG rattled off a seven-point spurt to reclaim the lead, 39-33. Both teams would exchange buckets over the next two minutes before the Spartans would score nine of the next 12 points to bust out their first double-digit lead of the contest, 52-42, with 2:06 left.
Chloe Wanink went on to answer with five straight points on back-to-back jumpers, as a
Marissa Bayer finish cut the deficit to three (52-49) by the end of the third.

The fourth quarter unfortunately proved to be all UNCG, outscoring Wofford 25-12 in the period, as a mix of Wofford foul trouble and balanced scoring led the Spartans to extend and hold a double-digit lead for the duration of the contest.

The Spartans shot 26-for-59 (44.1%) from the floor and 30.8 percent (4-13 3FG) from beyond the arc for the contest, converting 21-of-24 (87.5%) from the line. UNCG also forced 15 Wofford turnovers in the contest, leading to create 13 points. The Spartans finished with four in double figures, led by Aja Boyd and Nadine Soliman with 21 and 20 points respectively. Â
