BALTIMORE, Md. - The Wofford lacrosse team played a neutral-site game at the home of U.S. Lacrosse, defeating the Hartford Hawks 18-5.
Sophomore
Hannah Mutch scored a game-high and season-high six goals, adding an assist in the process. Freshman
Elisabeth Ralph continued her impressive rookie season, netting four goals while picking up one ground ball. Senior
JoJo Franklin had a hat trick while
Hannah Wurzel and
Ally Furnari each scored a pair of goals in the win. Goalkeeper
Kelsey Thompson racked up eight saves to pick up her second victory of the season.
The Terriers blitzed the Hawks from the start as Franklin scores just over a minute into the game to give Wofford a lead it would not relinquish. The Terriers would score 10 more in a row to take an 11-0 lead as Mutch netted four of her six goals in that span.
Hartford would get on the board around the midway point of the first courtesy of a Lauren Wehner goal. Wurzel, Mutch and Ralph each responded with a goal before the Hawks scored a pair before the break, making it 14-3 at half.
Mutch opened up the second half with her sixth goal of the day, giving Wofford a 12-goal advantage. Hartford would net two in a row, but a pair of goals from Furnari and another from Ralph capped off the day as the Terriers took the contest 18-5.
With the win, Wofford is now 2-5 on the season. The Terriers will welcome Winthrop to Gibbs Stadium on Thursday at 5 p.m.
