SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to SoCon rival Furman on Wednesday afternoon at Reeves Tennis Center in their last home conference matchup. The Paladins move on to a nine-game win streak after today's match, moving to 10-3 overall and 3-0 in the SoCon. Junior
Lucas Cerbelli recorded his fifth singles win of the year on the day, though, the Terriers drop to 5-10 overall and 2-2 in conference on the season.

Coming into the match, all three of Furman's doubles pair boasted undefeated records on the season. Wofford and Furman split the first two doubles matches to begin, though, the Paladins would take No. 3 doubles to earn the doubles point early on.

Javi Casasolas and
Bryce Keim on the No. 2 court, as
Julian Chousa and
Omar Williams snapped Ivan Mitric and Jake Munns' unbeaten streak in No. 1 doubles for their second consecutive doubles victory.

Lucas Cerbelli and
Diego Losada battled hard on the No. 3 court, however, the Paladins' Drew Singerman and Henrik Atlevi held on, 6-4, to stay unbeaten and give Furman the early advantage.

The Terriers put up a fight in singles play, pushing five of the six singles matches to three sets throughout the match.

Lucas Cerbelli tied the match up at 1-1 to start, dropping Bhangdia on the No. 4 court for his second straight singles win and fourth in the No. 4 spot.

Bryce Keim fought hard in No. 6 singles, bouncing back with a 6-0 shutout in the second set after dropping the first to James Roelofse. Roelofse would however go on to take the third set to reclaim the lead for the Paladins, 2-1.

Casasolas found himself in a competitive matchup on the No. 5 court against Singerman, falling scoreless in the first set, but retaliating with a win in the second (7-5) to force a third set. Singerman then went on to shut down the comeback in the third, 6-3, to ring in another singles win for the Paladins.

Edu Villar took the first set in No. 3 singles over Munns, 6-4, though, Munns would answer in the second, returning the favor (7-5) after being down 5-2 early on. The third set would be all Munns though, as Munns would finish the match out 6-1 to clinch the match for Furman, 4-1.

Omar Williams fought back against Clarke Wilson in three sets in No. 2 singles, but Wilson would unfortunately take the win in tiebreak fashion as well.

Julian Chousa had his hands full on the No. 1 court against No. 120 Ivan Mitric, but held his own in forcing the match to go three sets. Mitric took the first set, as Chousa answered in the second, 7-6, to force a third set. The two traded blows, though, Mitric would prevail 10-5 in the third to finish out the match, granting Furman the 6-1 win.

Next, the Terriers travel to face UNC Greensboro on Saturday, March 23, at the UNCG Tennis Courts. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
