DELAND, Fla. - The Wofford women's lacrosse team wrapped up its Florida road trip on Sunday, falling to Stetson 21-9.
JoJo Franklin continued her strong play, connection on all three of her shots to lead the team with three goals.
Sophie Smith was 2-for-2 from the field while
Kelsey Thompson racked up 14 saves.
Stetson scored just 30 seconds into the contest and would find the next five more times before Smith got Wofford on the board. Smith and
Emily Elstun would each find the back of the net to make the score 7-3 in favor of the Hatters. After Stetson pushed the lead to seven,
Tori Saylor and
JoJo Franklin each scored unassisted goals as the Terriers looked to climb back into the game. Stetson responded, however, totaling four more goals to go into the break up 15-5.
Ally Furnari and
Hannah Wurzel opened up the second with goals and after Stetson scored, Franklin registered her second goal of the game to cut the deficit to eight. Franklin found the back of the net one more time, but Stetson would take the contest 21-9.
Wofford sits at 2-8 on the season but has a pair of upcoming home games next weekend. The Terriers open up SoCon play on Friday against Mercer (5 p.m.) before hosting Kennesaw State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
