SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Wofford women's lacrosse team was in action on Thursday, falling to Saint Francis (Pa.) 18-8.
As a team, the Terriers picked up 11 ground balls and totaled 21 shots while
Kelsey Thompson tallied 17 saves.
Hannah Mutch led Wofford with three goals on five shots, while
Ally Furnari scored a pair.
Shannon Wulff had a goal and an assist while
Sophie Smith and
Elisabeth Ralph each found the back of the net once.
The Red Flash quickly jumped in front 2-0 before Wulff and Furnari connected for the first Terrier goal of the afternoon. Wulff and Mutch each netted a goal to tie the game up at 4-4, but Sain Francis scored five unanswered, taking the 9-5 advantage into the break.
Smith opened the second with a goal just three minutes in, but the Red Flash reeled off four goals in a row to take a commanding 13-6 lead. With just over 15 minutes to play,
Hannah Wurzel found Ralph who swiftly whipped the ball behind her head and into the back of the net for the Wofford goal.
Wofford now sits at 1-4 on the season, returning to the field on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
