DETROIT, Mich. - The Wofford women's lacrosse team finished its road swing on Sunday, afternoon dropping a contest 17-8 at Detroit Mercy. 

Hannah Mutch, Sophie Smith and Shannon Wulff each had two goals in the game, with Mutch dishing out an assist. Kelsey Thompson totaled 10 saves while Wofford collected 19 ground balls as a team. The Terriers registered 13 shots on goal and won 12 draw controls. 

The two sides started slow with Mutch evening the score at one apiece just under eight minutes into the game. The Titans scored the next four goals before Wulff connected on a free position shot to make the score 5-2. The latter part of the first half was all Detroit Mercy however, taking a 12-2 lead into the break. 

The Titans struck first in the second half before Furnari ended the scoreless drought at the 19:50 mark. With the score 15-3, Mutch found Wulff in front of the net as the Terriers attempted to mount a comeback.

Smith would convert a pair of chances and Mutch netted her second goal of the game to make the score 15-7. After Wurzel scored, Wofford would run out of time, falling 17-8.

The loss gives the Terriers a 2-12 overall record, starting 0-3 in the Southern Conference. Wofford returns home for two games this week, hosting Howard on Thursday (5 p.m.) before welcoming Delaware State on Saturday (12 p.m.).
