HOUSTON, TEXAS- The Wofford men's soccer team dropped their 2019 season opener on Friday night at Sorrels Field against Houston Baptist, 2-0. The Huskies jumped on the board first and never lost control, taking an early lead in the 25
th minute as Wofford could not mount a comeback throughout the rest of the contest. The Terriers drop to 0-1-0 on the season.

Despite notching two shots in the first three minutes, Wofford was not able to capitalize on their early offensive attacks. Coming off an assist from Nick Coburn, Houston Baptist took a 1-0 lead at 25:08 on a goal from Thomas Menke. Junior

Meade Fowler were able to tally two more shots for the Terriers in the first half, but Wofford was outshot 5-4 overall and trailed at the half by a score of 1-0.

The second half started out more promising as the Terriers attempted three shots within the first ten minutes, including two off the foot of freshman
Alex Dennis. The Huskies, however, would extend their lead to 2-0 in the 72
nd minute on a goal from Jordan Cobi. Wofford was able to counter with one more offensive attack in the final minutes of the match as freshmen
Buster Sjoberg and
Adrian Roseth both attempted to close the gap, but the Terriers ultimately fell to Houston Baptist by a final score of 2-0.

Overall, seven different players were able to record shots for Wofford, which included five shots on-goal. Roseth and Dennis led the way with 2 shots each in the match as the Terriers outshot the Huskies 10-9.

The Terriers continue their visit to the Lone Star state with a neutral site contest at Sorrels Field on Sunday, September 1 at 8:00 pm against University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Wofford's first home game is scheduled for Friday, September 6 at 7:00 pm against Winthrop.
