SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's golf team completed day one of the Terrier Intercollegiate. The annual event hosted by Wofford is the lone fall competition for the Terriers this season.
As a team, Wofford sits in third place, posting a 316 in round one before a 294 in the second round.
Individually, Nicole Amos leads the way for the Terriers, sitting in a tie for fifth place. Amos opened up with a birdie on hole No. 3 and registered another on No. 15, shooting a 5-over-par 77 in round one. The native of Kent, England, was dialed in during round two, birdieing No. 2, No. 7 and No. 17 to shoot even par.
Lina Settelmayer, Speedy Kent and Lindsey Hollis each are all tied for 14th after posting solid second rounds. A senior from Heiligenhaus, Germany, birdied No. 18 to post a 2-over-par 74. Kent, a junior from Mequan, Wisconsin, bounced back after round one, birdieing three of the last 12 holes to finish with a 1-over-par 73. Hollis, a sophomore hailing from Signal Mountain, Tennessee, shot even par on her last nine holes, finishing with a 3-over-par 75 for round two.
After an up-and-down round one, Becca Earl (junior, Essex, England), was able to birdie hole No. 16 and register back-to-back pars to finish with a 3-over-par 75.
The field, which includes golfers from Appalachian State, The Citadel, Coastal Carolina, ETSU, Chattanooga and Wofford, was divided into groups of two or three golfers, with participants playing alongside their respective teammates.
The final round will be played on Tuesday, with golfers teeing off on holes No. 1 and No. 10 between 9-10 a.m.
