BURLINGTON, S.C. – The Wofford women's golf team kicked off its 2026-27 campaign at the Elon Invitational, which was hosted by Elon at the Alamance Country Club on Monday and Tuesday. The Terriers placed third out of 15 teams with a score of 884. Senior Sophia Pedrero led Wofford and placed fourth with a score of 214.  
 
The Terriers were 32 over par as a unit, with rounds of 291, 291, and 302 over the two-day, three-round event. Elon claimed the team title in their own event by 21 strokes, with a total score of 861. Wofford was one of three SoCon teams present at the tournament, with Western Carolina placing fifth and Tennessee Tech tying for ninth place. 
 
Pedrero was consistently excellent throughout the tournament. She posted scores of 71 and 72 on day one, recording six birdies. On day two, she scored another 71 and added two more birdies, finishing the tournament in fourth place at just one stroke over par. Lilli Downer from Elon finished first place individually. 
 
Valeria Melo (Individual) and Gabbie Crowfoot were not far behind Pedrero, finishing 10th and tied for 11th, respectively. Melo posted scores of 75, 71, and 73, finishing the tournament with a score of 219, six strokes over par. Crowfoot was right behind her with a score of 220. In round one, she recorded an eagle and finished with a score of 68, which was the lowest score a Wofford player recorded in the tournament. In rounds two and three, she posted scores of 74 and 78, finishing seven strokes over par.  
 
Grace Lindsey tied for 18th place with a score of 223. On day one, she had scores of 77 and 71, with two birdies. On day two, she scored 75 to finish 10 strokes over par. Ashlyn Taylor and Anna Ahomen rounded out the Terriers' lineup, finishing tied for 36th and tied for 39th. Taylor scored 228 (76, 74, 78), and Ahomen scored 230 (76, 75, 79).  
 
Wofford returns to action in two weeks with the Tot Hill Invitational in Asheboro, North Carolina. The two-day tournament hosted by College of Charleston is set for September 28 and 29.
