GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Wofford lacrosse team visited East Carolina on Saturday, falling to the Pirates 20-5.
The Terriers, who fall to 0-2 on the young season, totaled 15 shots, 14 ground balls and eight draw controls, forcing nine Pirate turnovers. Three different players found the back of the net for Wofford, including
Elisabeth Ralph who netted a hat trick.
Olivia Abe and
Brenna Duley each handed out two assists, while
Kelsey Thompson totaled five saves.
East Carolina scored right off the bat in the first half, adding six more before Abe found Ralph who buried Wofford's first goal of the game. After the Pirates scored five more, Duley fed
Shannon Wulff who found the back of the net with 6:40 to play in the first.
The Terriers would strike first in the second, with Abe once again setting up Ralph for her second goal of the game to make the score 13-3. After East Carolina responded with a goal, Duley dished out her second assist of the game as Ralph recorded her first hat trick of the season. Minutes later, Abe worker her way through the defense to score her first-career goal at the 12:24 mark.
Wofford will have some time off, returning to the field on Friday when it faces VCU in its home opener at 3 p.m.
