William Stout Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College student-athlete William Stout has been named to the 2020 Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
 
Stout, a senior from Nashville, Tennessee, took second place in the heptathlon at the 2020 Southern Conference Indoor Championships. He was third in the decathlon at the 2019 Southern Conference Outdoor Championships. He was also third in the heptathlon at the 2019 Southern Conference Indoor Championship. He has been named All-Southern Conference six times. Stout also holds the school record in the outdoor pole vault.
 
A biology major with a 3.98 grade point average, Stout is a member-elect of Phi Beta Kappa and will attend medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center this fall. He also is the recipient of a Southern Conference Graduate Scholarship.  This is the second time he has received CoSIDA All-District honors.
 
The CoSIDA Academic All-District team is selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Wofford is in the fourth district, which includes schools in Alabama, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Nominees must have at least a 3.30 grade point average. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in June.
