SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford's women's basketball team got off to a slow start and was never able to recover as they split their series with Samford, falling 80-55. The Terriers shot 40% from the field, but the Bulldogs' 46% and 47% from 3 point land provided them the scoring to grab the win.

rd place after the loss, moving to an 11-7 (7-4 SoCon) record. Samford regains a two-game lead atop the conference standings, taking their record to 12-8 (9-2 SoCon).

Niyah Lutz finally got the Terriers on the board with a running jumper.
Lilly Hatton added a free-throw and
MaryMartha Turner hit a deep two with a low shot clock.

A scoreless two minutes began the 2
nd quarter until
Jamari McDavid made a 12-footer form the corner. Hatton made a layup after a pass from Turner, but Wofford was still down 16 at the media timeout. Hatton added to her early total with another make and Cook scored a put back after grabbing an offensive rebound.

Alexis Tomlin and
Annabelle Schultz checked in and made an immediate impact with Tomlin banking in a shot, and Schultz putting up five to finish the quarter.
Schultz swished a trey to start the 4
th quarter and another a minute later as she was giving the Terriers a little life. The Bulldogs responded with an 11-0 run which shut down any sort of comeback that Wofford had planned. McDavid scored her final three points of the afternoon as coach Garrity gave her a senior day sendoff, subbing her out with 1:35 left. Samford went on to run out the rest of the clock and win the game.
Annabelle Schultz came off the bench and led the team with 11 points. She also led the team in steals with three and
Jamari McDavid had a team-high five rebounds. Wofford had more points in the paint, 26-22 and off the bench, 25-14.
"I'll give Samford credit; they are a tough team to play against and when they shoot the ball as well as they did today it's tough for anybody to beat them. We got in a hole early and weren't able to climb out of it", said
Jimmy Garrity. "Anybody can beat anybody on any given day, and we saw that this week. We're going to regroup, head down to Mercer, and play two tough games against a good team."
Wofford will travel to Macon, Georgia, for a series against the Bears. Friday's tipoff will be at 7:00 pm and Sunday will tipoff at 2:00 pm.
