HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Wofford women's golf team put out a solid effort over the first round of action in Hilton Head Island, hosting the Low Country Intercollegiate at the Bear Creek Golf Course, as junior Kristine Torralba (+3) led the Terriers on the day to see Wofford finish in fifth amongst the 16-team field.
 
Torralba notched birdies on holes No. 4, No. 8, No. 10 and No. 13 to go on and record a 3-over-par 75 in the first round, as the Manila, Philippines native sits third among the entire field of 81 players in birdies (4).
 
Classmate Becca Earl (+4) also saw herself finish in the top 20 (T-17^th), recording back-to-back birdies on holes No. 6 and No. 7, along with her third on No. 17, to finish the first round with a 76.
 
Wofford (+18) was the first team to tee and first to finish, as the Terriers were slotted tied for eighth up until vaulting up to fifth place after the rest of the field concluded the round. The Terriers registered a first-round score of 306, as FAU (+3) leads the field, followed by USC Upstate (+9) and Elon and UNCG (E) tied for third.
 
The Terriers tallied nine birdies overall on the day, good for fourth-best among the field after day one, as Wofford also notched the third-best stroke average for par-4s (4.40) and fourth-best for par-5s (5.15) after the first round's conclusion.
 
Sophomore Lindsey Hollis (+5) was solid on the day, finishing strong on the back nine with eight of her 13 first-round pars to finish tied for 26^th with a 77.  Sophomore Nicole Amos (+6) and junior Speedy Kent (+8) combined for two birdies to finish tied for 32^nd and tied for 49^th, respectively.
 
Junior Emma King (+8) competes as an individual, also tied for 49^th, as the Atlanta, Georgia native sits seventh among the field in par-3s, at 1-under with a 2.75 stroke average.
 
The tournament's field of teams consists of FAU, USC Upstate, Elon, UNCG, UNC Asheville, Appalachian State, Gardner-Webb, Lipscomb, Albany, Youngstown State, Dayton, The Citadel, Presbyterian, Charleston Southern and USC Beaufort. 

The Terriers will conclude the Low Country Intercollegiate on Sunday, opening the second and final round at 8:30 a.m. on holes No. 1 and No. 10 at the Bear Creek Golf Course.
