Women’s Tennis Victorious on Senior Day

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford's women's tennis team played their final match of the season at Reeves Tennis Center taking on Western Carolina. The Terriers came from behind to win the doubles point and made a clean sweep through singles to secure the 7-0 win over the Catamounts. With the win Wofford will be given the #3 seed in the upcoming SoCon Tournament which will take place on April 23rd and 24th.

The Terriers started the match by taking a 1-0 lead after doubles with some spirited efforts from the pairings. Jenna Vroman and Lilie Steryous played tough, but fell in the end to a 6-3 defeat. The second duo of Liz Massie and Ansley Hardeman came back from 1-4 down to take their match 7-5, and the senior pairing of Brittney Wilbur and Kay Kluska also came from behind to win 7-5 and give Wofford the point.

Wofford stayed hot during singles competition as Vroman was the first to finish with a pair of 6-3 wins to finish her career. Steryous improved her singles record after a 6-0, 6-4 win, which gave her a perfect 7-0 mark at #2 singles in conference play. Georgia Fischer came in at the #4 position and swept her opponent 6-0, 6-3 to give Wofford the deciding fourth point in the match. Finishing almost simultaneously were Emily Kahrs and Brittney Wilbur, who both came out with victories, and Liz Massie wrapped up the match with a 10-8 win in a tiebreaker to give the Terriers the sweep over Western Carolina.

"Between #2 and #3 doubles we saved six match points which shows how much heart we have. Coming back and winning that point gave us the energy we needed to go into singles. To win our 12th overall match and 5th in the conference is a great achievement and an incredible feat for this team", said coach Krissy Hall. The careers that Kay, Jenna, and Brittney have had is special to not only this team, but the program as a whole. They've done great things at Wofford both on and off the court and they will be greatly missed."
