Football Opens Season At Elon

THE ELON GAME
Wofford opens the 2021 season with a visit to former Southern Conference foe Elon ... This marks the seventh time in the last ten seasons that Wofford has begun the season with a road trip ...  The last time that Wofford and Elon met was in the 2018 NCAA FCS Playoffs, a game that was won 19-7 by the Terriers ... Overall Wofford holds a 27-11 lead in the series that began in 1921 ... While both teams were members of the Southern Conference (2002-2013) Wofford had a 10-2 record ... The Terriers were 1-4 overall in the five Southern Conference games played during the spring season ... The Phoenix were 1-5 overall last season and 0-4 in CAA contests ... Despite recent playoff appearances by both teams (Wofford in 2019, Elon in 2018), neither squad is ranked or receiving votes in the polls this season.
