BLACKSBURG, Va. – Sophomore setter
Emily Hodsdon became the 10
th Terrier in program history to eclipse the 1,000-assist mark on Saturday afternoon, recording her second double-double of the season en route to help lift the Terriers to a comeback five-set victory over George Mason (2-9), 26-24, 16-25, 19-25, 25-17, 15-9. The Terriers received a total team effort to conclude the Hokie Invite with a win, as the victory also serves as head coach
Lynze Roos' 100
th win at Wofford.

Hodsdon currently holds 1,045 assists for her career, jumping Tara Gough '13 to move into 10
th in program history for all-time assists in just her sophomore season.

The Alpharetta, Ga. native continues to excel for Wofford this season, adding to her SoCon Setter of the Week and Wofford Invitational Tournament MVP honors with her double-double of 52 assists and 11 digs, along with three aces. The 52 assists marked a match-high, as Hodsdon currently averages 9.16 assists per set.

Junior
Meghan Yaffa, who was named to the Hokie Invite All-Tournament Team, led Wofford with a team-high 17 kills on 35 swings (.314), in addition to two aces and blocks apiece, as sophomores
Sarah Barham and
Millie Loehr followed with 11 kills each to round out the Terriers in double figures. Barham also contributed with six blocks and an ace, while Loehr's 11 kills on .500 hitting set a new career-high for the Durham, N.C. native. Outside hitter
Addison Foote followed with eight kills, two aces and eight digs.

Bella Zeman added six kills on 12 swings (.417) to pair with a block, as
Emory Wyatt recorded four kills and a block. Junior
Kennedy Smith registered a match-high 14 digs to go along with three assists, while freshman
Mary Emily Morgan added three kills and 11 digs.

The Terriers opened with an 8-0 lead in the first set before George Mason stormed back to tie the match at 12-all to force a Wofford timeout. The Patriots would claim a 16-13 lead after a pair of aces burned Wofford's final timeout of the set, as George Mason would continue to hold leads at 18-15. A Hodsdon ace and Barham kill brought the Terriers within one, 19-18, prior to a Yaffa swing and successive ace tying the set at 21-21. The Patriots rallied to summon set point at 24-21, as crucial points from
Mary Emily Morgan,
Emory Wyatt and
Addison Foote reclaimed the advantage and set point in Wofford's favor, 25-24. Wyatt then secured the winner to come away with the early advantage, 26-24.

The Patriots would take command over the second and third sets, 25-16 and 25-19, as George Mason's offense began to take shape, along with their presence at the net and Wofford errors playing a role in the setbacks.

Wofford regrouped in the fourth set, controlling the pace and keeping a consistent attack through
Addison Foote,
Bella Zeman and
Sarah Barham kills to hold a 15-9 lead. From there, the Terriers recorded eight of the following 12 points to force a Patriots timeout up 10, 23-13. A George Mason service error proved set point, as Yaffa would bury a kill to force a winner-take-all fifth set, 25-17.

The fifth was played close up until kills from
Bella Zeman and
Sarah Barham allowed three-point cushions for Wofford at 8-5. The Patriots crept within one, though, timely points from Zeman and Yaffa kept Wofford ahead at George Mason timeout, 10-7. Barham landed an ace out of the break, while Yaffa also sent home a kill at 12-8 to force the Patriots to use their last timeout of the match. A late service error by the Patriots squandered any last chance at a run for George Mason, as an
Addison Foote ace ensued before a Patriots attack error granted Wofford the comeback victory at 15-9.

Wofford (6-6) in back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 22, as the Terriers open Southern Conference play with a 7 p.m. matchup against SoCon rivals Furman at the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
