SPARTANBURG S.C. – The Wofford women's soccer team was blanked 0-1 at Snyder Field against The Citadel Sunday afternoon. The loss drops the Terriers' record to 6-5-3 (1-2-2 SoCon).
The Citadel's offense tested the Terriers early, with Ashley Frank rattling off a shot four minutes into the match, with
Caroline Doss coming up with the save.
Wofford was out-shot 2-1 in the opening half, with
Megan Childress recording the lone shot.
The Bulldogs netted the game-winner at the start of the second half in the 49th minute off a shot from Frank.
Wofford's first true scoring opportunity came in the 57th minute with a shot from
Alexis Mapplebeck, but Brie Sikes was waiting in the right spot to save the attempt.
Caileen Almeida had one final look for the Terriers in the 78th minute, but her shot was saved by the Bulldogs' keeper in the bottom left corner of the goal.
