SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's lacrosse team concluded a three-game home stand at Gibbs Stadium, falling to the visiting UMass Lowell River Hawks (2-5), 25-3, in Spartanburg on Wednesday afternoon. The River Hawks held possession for most of the match with a strong performance in the draw circle to pace their attack, as the loss drops Wofford to 1-4 on the season.

Three different Terriers scored on the afternoon in
Emma Gentile,
Ally Furnari and
Brenna Duley in her first appearance this season, while
Olivia Abé rounds out Wofford's point-getters on the day with an assist. Gentile added two draw controls, a ground ball and a caused turnover, while Furnari added a ground ball and caused turnover as well.

Emma Krasinski tallied three shots on goal in addition to a draw control. Senior
Elisabeth Ralph and sophomore
Addison Witkowski led with team-highs of three draw controls, while Witkowski added two ground balls.

Freshman midfielder
Carley Irvin scooped up a team-high three ground balls, as
Mia McCarthy and
Leah Hurley added two and one caused turnovers, respectively.

Despite the loss,
Aislinn Washburn finished with nine saves inside the crease, while
Ella Smithers finished with three saves.

The River Hawks dominated with a 23-9 draw control differential, leading to a 41-12 gap in shots taken for the match. Additionally, UMass Lowell finished with a 21-9 advantage in ground balls.

Wofford (1-4) returns to action next Sunday, Mar. 20, when it travels to Richmond, Va. to take on No. 22 Richmond for an 11 a.m. match.
