Ralph Records 100th Goal, Wulff Breaks Single-Game Assist Record in Win at Longwood

Career days for seniors Elisabeth Ralph and Shannon Wulff pace Terriers to 11-6 win

FARMVILLE, Va. – Seniors Elisabeth Ralph and Shannon Wulff posted a pair of milestone performances on Wednesday afternoon, seeing Ralph become the first Terrier in program history to surpass 100 career goals, while Wulff broke the single-game assist record (7) and matched the single-game points record (9) en route to an 11-6 victory over Longwood (5-9, 2-5 Big South) at Elizabeth Burger Stadium in Farmville, Va.
 
The crucial league victory moves the Terriers to 2-5 in Big South action and 4-10 overall on the season.
 
Senior Elisabeth Ralph continues to impress with yet another program milestone for her prolific career with the Terriers, becoming the first Terrier to surpass 100 career goals in addition to matching a season-high five goals on the afternoon. The senior also added a ground ball and caused turnover in the match.
 
Ralph now holds 104 goals for her career, while exceeding 30 goals in a season for the second-straight year – marking the only Terrier to record 30-plus goals in a season overall and in consecutive seasons in program history. The Hillsdale, N.J., native also matches a team-high 33 points for the season upon the performance.
 
Classmate Shannon Wulff also recorded a milestone career-best performance in the win, matching the single-game points record (9), setting a new single-game assist record with seven assists (Olivia Abé – 5 at Presbyterian, Feb. 25, 2021) and matching her career-high of two goals. The Chapel Hill. N.C., native also added two ground balls.
 
Wulff moves to a team-high 22 assists, ranked fourth amongst the Big South (1.57/g), and 29 points overall.
 
Junior Leah Hurley added solid contributions with two goals, a team-high five draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover, while freshman Mia McCarthy added her second career goal along with a ground ball. Senior Ally Furnari rounds out the scoring with a goal and a ground ball, additionally.
 
Despite finishing with identical shots (22) and shot-on-goal tallies (19), the Terriers made the most of their chances, capitalizing on scoring opportunities with two free-position goals and man-up goals apiece throughout the match.
 
Wofford was solid in creating opportunities in finishing 19-for-20 on clear attempts for the match, though, the Lancers finished with the edge in draw controls (11-9) and ground balls (25-24).
 
Defensively, the Terriers forced eight turnovers en route to a total of 20 for the hosts, while finishing with the advantage in saves (13-8) behind a season-high 13 saves from junior Aislinn Washburn for the win.
 
Freshman Mia MacLean set the tone defensively for the Terriers, recording career-highs of three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Emma Krasinksi added two ground balls and draw controls apiece, along with a caused turnover. Senior Emma Seif recorded a ground ball and caused turnover, followed by Addison Witkowksi with a draw control and caused turnover.
 
Carley Irvin added two ground balls and a draw control, as Moira Carroll and Kirsten Flannigan also scooped two ground balls.
 
Wofford (4-10, 2-5 Big South) returns to Spartanburg for another crucial Big South matchup, hosting Winthrop at Gibbs Stadium for Senior Day on Saturday, Apr. 23. Opening draw is slated for a 1 p.m. start to be broadcast on ESPN+.
