SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After coming out strong through the first half of action with a two-goal lead against Winthrop on Saturday afternoon, the Eagles would rebound to outscore the Terriers 12-4 in the second half and secure a 20-14 comeback victory on Senior Day at Gibbs Stadium. A season-best nine Terriers scored in the match, though, the loss drops Wofford to 4-11 and 2-6 in the Big South, while Winthrop claims sole possession of sixth in the Big South with a 4-12 overall record and 3-5 mark in league play. Prior to today's match, eight Terriers were recognized for their dedication and commitment to the Wofford women's lacrosse program over the past four years in seniors

Ralph, the program's all-time points (123) and goals (107) leader, led the Terriers with a consecutive five-point performance on three goals and two assists, along with a ground ball.
Olivia Abé and
Shannon Wulff each followed with three points on the day, as Abé tallied two goals and an assist, while Wulff – the program's all-time assists leader (52) – dished two assists along with a goal.

A quartet of Terriers record two points in
Leah Hurley (2 goals),
Brenna Duley (1 goal, 1 assist),
Carley Irvin (2 goals) and
Emma Krasinski (1 goal, 1 assist), as Krasinski recorded six draw controls and two caused turnovers and ground balls each, followed by Irvin with three draw controls and two ground balls. Hurley added a draw control and caused turnover.

Defenders
Addison Witkowski and
Kirsten Flannigan recorded their first career goals in the match to round out the scoring, as Witkowski paced the Terriers with a career-high eight draw controls – marking the fifth Terrier to match the program record this season – along with a caused turnover, while Flannigan matched a season-high with six ground balls.

Emma Seif and
Ally Furnari added caused turnovers, while Seif, Furnari,
Moira Carroll and
Abbi Pagano additionally scooped up ground balls each. Despite the loss,
Aislinn Washburn recorded 10 saves inside the crease through the match. Â

The Eagles edged Wofford in shots for the match, 38-31, though, the Terriers competed neck-and-neck in draw controls (19-19) and ground balls (18-18).

The Terriers opened with the momentum, seeing consecutive goals from
Olivia Abé and
Shannon Wulff prior to answering an Eagles goal with a 4-0 run by the 6:04 mark. Wofford began to ride the momentum, as Abé found the back to the net to spark the run, which saw a goal from
Elisabeth Ralph,
Leah Hurley and then a Ralph free-position goal cap the run at 6-1 (6:04). The Eagles responded with a pair, as
Emma Krasinski and Winthrop's Alyssa Angelo – who led the Eagles with nine points (6 goals, 3 assists) – traded goals to see Wofford hold a 7-4 first-quarter lead. Â

Both teams traded goals to open the second, seeing
Kirsten Flannigan take a clear the length of the field to notch her first Wofford goal (8-5), as
Brenna Duley and
Addison Witkowski tacked on two more goals to push a 10-6 advantage with 5:52 left in the half. Winthrop would go on to finish the half strong, scoring the final two goals of the half to trim the lead to 10-8 at the intermission.

Winthrop came alive out the gates in the second half, opening up with three of the half's first four goals to deadlock the score at 11-11 by the 9:35 mark before another Ralph free-position goal reclaimed a 12-11 edge (7:46). The margin would be tied twice, seeing a Hurley goal briefly reclaim a 13-12 margin, though, a free-position opportunity for Winthrop's Savanah Paton busted a 3-0 Winthrop run to cap the third quarter with its first lead of the day, 15-13.

The Eagles then completely took over the match, taking advantage of the Terriers' fatigue to bust out five unanswered goals over a five-minute span and push a 20-13 spread with 4:25 remaining. Irvin would find the back of the net within the final minute, though, the Eagles ultimately would walk away with the come-from-behind victory at the horn, 20-14.
