Women's Lacrosse Downs Radford, Marks Winningest Season in Program History

Wofford's five wins in 2022 mark the most recorded for a season in program history

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's lacrosse team (5-11, 3-6 Big South) concluded its winningest season in program history on Wednesday evening, dropping Radford (2-14, 1-8 Big South), 14-7, in its season finale at Gibbs Stadium for the team's fifth win of the season and most wins in an individual season through the program's five years of existence. Seniors Elisabeth Ralph and Shannon Wulff paced the Terriers with a pair of six-point performances, as Ralph concluded her Wofford career breaking her own – and the program's - individual season record for points (44) and goals (38) as the program's all-time leader (129 PTS, 111 G), while Wulff set a record for most assists in a season (31) as the all-time assists leader (57).
 
Ralph recorded four goals and two assists for the season-high performance, while Wulff followed with a match-high five assists and a goal. Junior attacker Olivia Abé also posted a strong performance, burying a career-high four goals on the day to finish second on the team in points (40) on 19 goals and 21 assists for the season.
 
Elisabeth Ralph and Shannon Wulff become the first two Terriers in program history to surpass 40 points for an individual season, as Abé currently sits fourth all-time at Wofford in points (74) while ranking second all-time in assists (38).
 
Shannon Wulff finishes the season fourth in the Big South for assists, while Abé concludes the season ranked ninth among the league in assists.
 
Senior Ally Furnari added a goal and assist, along with two ground balls and a caused turnover, followed by freshman midfielder Carley Irvin with two goals and two draw controls and ground balls apiece. Mia McCarthy and Emma Krasinski added goals, while Leah Hurley and Brenna Duley recorded assists in the match. Krasinski led with a team-high six draw controls and a caused turnover, while Hurley and Furnari each added a draw control and caused turnover in the match.
 
After leading just 4-3 at the half, the Terriers came out spirited in the second half, holding its own in the draw circle to spark scoring opportunities with a 10-8 second-half margin in Wofford's favor for a 13-12 advantage for the match.
 
Additionally, the Terriers caused problems for the Highlanders on the ride, causing eight turnovers throughout the match as Radford finished 24-for-29 on clears to Wofford's 26-for-29 for the match.
 
Defensively, senior Emma Seif led with three ground balls and a caused turnover, followed by freshman Kirsten Flannigan with three ground balls on the day. Flannigan, a native of Toana, Va., led with a team-high 36 ground balls for the season – also marking the second most ground balls recorded in an individual season (40 – Kelsey Thompson, 2018), while Krasinski's team-high 48 draw controls also mark the second most draw controls recorded for a season (58 – Delaney Irwin, 2018).
 
Addison Witkowski added a draw control and ground ball, while Abbi Pagano and Mia MacLean added a pair of caused turnovers.
 
Aislinn Washburn finished with nine saves for the win, tallying 106 on the year to finish with a 4-7 record, while Ella Smithers added six saves through the final frame of action to total 46 saves through her freshman campaign.
 
Wofford concludes the season 5-11 overall and 3-6 in league action through its inaugural season of Big South competition.
