GREENSBORO, Ga. – Junior
Matthew Larkin (-9) used a 7-under-par 65 in Sunday's final round at the 2022 Southern Conference Championships to finish in third place individually, while pacing the Wofford men's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Course in Greensboro, Ga. Wofford (+9) went 3-under as a team in the final round to record its lowest 54-hole score in program history at the SoCon Championships with a total score of 873.

Larkin's 65 on Sunday not only marked a career 18-hole low, but also marked the lowest round recorded by any Wofford low finisher. Additionally, his 9-under-par 207 for the tournament ranks as the second lowest 54-hole score achieved at the SoCon Championships behind William McGirt's low medalist performance at the 2001 Championships (205).

Larkin opened with a 74 in Friday's opening round prior to finding his touch in the second round with five birdies for a 4-under-par 68 to emerge into the top 10, tied for ninth, also helping lift the Terriers from seventh to sixth place after 36 holes. Larkin then unleashed on Sunday, birdieing nine holes, highlighted by a 5-under back-nine performance, to secure the third place finish.

The 9-under-par finish is tied for the fourth best tournament score in relation to par in program history. Additionally, the Atlanta, Ga., native led the Terriers and was second amongst the 40-player field in birdies (18), in addition to finishing third amongst the field in par-4 scoring (-3).

Wofford's total of 873 broke the previous program 54-hole low of 874 set at the 2002 SoCon Championships, which also resulted in a sixth-place finish. The Terriers opened in seventh after Friday's opening round, though, a 5-over-par performance in the second (293) lifted Wofford into sixth to hold out through Sunday's final round.

The Terriers scored wins over Mercer and Samford, as No. 30 ETSU (-39) won the 2022 league crown by 19 strokes over UNCG (-20), followed by Furman (-7) in third. ETSU's Remi Chartier (-18) finished as the tournament's low medalist.

Cedric Otten (+8) used eight birdies over the tournament's span to follow as Wofford's next top finisher, tied for 28
th with a score of 224, followed by sophomore
Harry Jones (+9) and senior
Walker Jones (+9) both tied for 30
th with scores of 225.

Otten was one of 10 golfers to record an eagle throughout the weekend, while
Harry Jones parred a team-best 38 of the 54 holes – good for second most individual pars amongst the field.

Jackson Hill (+11) rounds out Wofford's lineup tied for 35
th with a score of 227.

Harry Jones finishes as Wofford's low scorer for the 2022 season with a 72.03 average through 33 rounds played, followed by both
Matthew Larkin and
Cedric Otten with averages of 72.30 through 30 and 33 rounds played, respectively.
Walker Jones finished with a 73.96 averaged through 24 rounds, while
Jackson Hill rounds out the lineup with a 74.06 average through 33 rounds. Â
