GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Furman Invitational on Saturday morning at the Furman University Golf Course. The women and the men were both fourth in their respective races.
In the women's 5K race,
Mary Claire Ridgeway was 24
th overall in 18:11.32 and
Alexus Atkins was 27
th in 18:46.77).
Camille Terracina (18:59.97),
Carolyne Shealy (19:25.86), and
Chloe Gilbert (19:53.08) rounded out the top five scorers.
Franny Tocco (20:13.99) and
Kimber Keene (20.33.59),
Emily Jones (20:53.04),
Ava Fowler (21:14.85),
Gabby Gecan (21:55.39) and
Katharine Spence (22:27.45) also finished for the Terriers.
The men's 5K competition followed and
Carson Archie was the top Terrier to finish in 15:28.61 for 17th place.
Demir Degirmenci (16:36.04),
Emmett O'Neill (16:51.16),
James Moon (17:05.53) and
Ross Fallaw (17:40.64) completed the scorers.
Ethan Hearn (19:34.96) also competed for Wofford.
Overall, Furman was first in the women's race with 16 points, followed by Wake Forest (45), Clemson (82), Wofford (118), Columbia (160), Southern Wesleyan (172), Warren Wilson (2343) and Claflin (8). The men's race was also won by Furman with 17 points, with Clemson (44), Southern Wesleyan (100), Wofford (114), Columbia (149), Johnson & Wales (162) and Claflin (189) rounding out the field.
Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action on Saturday, October 1, at the Asics Cross Country Invitational in Fairburn, Georgia.
