CHARLOTTE, N.C. – On Friday afternoon, the Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Queen City Invite hosted by Queens University at McAlpine Creek Park. The women were 13
th and the men were 19
th overall in the meet.
In the women's 5K race,
Madeline Smith was 58
th overall in 18:43.23 to lead the Terriers.
Ava Dennis was the next Terrier to finish at 19:43.69, followed by
Becca Hinds (19:48.14),
Taylor Battle (20:21.16),
Jordyn Battle (20:40.89),
Sarah Turner (20:43.96),
Caroline Vietor (21:00.81), and
Emma O'Connell (21:50.88).
The men's 8K competition followed and freshman
Ben Beucler was the top Terrier at 26:49.97.
Andrew York was next for Wofford in 27:26.57, followed by
Kai Wilmot (28:53.18),
Nate Hopkins (29:03.89),
Aydan Layton (29:13.27), and
Dillon Shin (30:47.98).
Overall, Wake Forest was first in the women's race of 20 teams with 27 points, followed by Charlotte and Emory. The men's race of 21 teams was won by Charlotte with 23 points, with North Carolina second at 51 points.
Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action on Friday, October 3, at the Georgia Tech Invite in Fairburn, Ga.
