GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2024 Southern Conference Championships on Saturday morning at the Furman University Golf Course. The men and women were both ninth overall in their respective races.
The men's 8K race was held first and
Liam Jones was 55
th overall to lead the Terriers in a time of 27:25.4. He was followed by
Will Berger (28:15.1),
Nate Hopkins (28:21.0),
James Moon (28:32.2),
Andrew York (28:41.4) and
Ethan Hearn (30:37.9).
In the women's 5K race,
Franny Tocco was the first Terrier to cross the finish line in a personal best time of 18:32.5 for 33
rd place.
Mary Claire Ridgeway (19:09.1),
Becca Hinds (19:34.3),
Ava Fowler (19:57.1), and
Kimber Keene (20:18.6), scored points for Wofford.
Carolyne Shealy (20:31.6),
Kristen Hallman (20:33.1),
Chloe Gilbert (20:48.7), and
Emma O'Connell (21:38.9) also finished for Wofford.
Overall Furman was first in both the men's (15) and women's (19) races for the 12
th straight season. In the women's race, Samford (50), Chattanooga (81), East Tennessee State (97), Mercer (130), Western Carolina (202), UNC Greensboro (202), VMI (231), Wofford (243), and The Citadel (289) completed the field. Furman was followed in the men's race by Western Carolina (94), UNC Greensboro (108), Samford (116), Chattanooga (118), Mercer (125), VMI (143), East Tennessee State (231), Wofford (284), and The Citadel (290).
