SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams competed on Saturday morning at the Upstate Invitational held at the Roger Milliken Research Center Park. The women were 14th overall and the men were eleventh overall.
In the women's 5K race,
Mary Claire Ridgeway was the first Terrier to finish in 19:24.8 for 69
th place.
Franny Tocco (19:27.3),
Becca Hinds (19:48.9),
Kimber Keene (19:58.1), and
Ava Fowler (20:10.9) also scored points for the Terriers.
Carolyne Shealy (20:31.7),
Kristen Hallman (20:32.8)
Chloe Gilbert (21:02.5), and
Emma O'Connell (21:15.6) also finished for Wofford.
The men's 8K competition followed and
Liam Jones was the top Terrier finisher at 27:02.2.
Will Berger was next for Wofford in 27:59.4, followed by Nathan Hopkins (28:07.9),
Andrew York (28:09.9), and
James Moon (29:19.4) to score for Wofford.
Ethan Hearn (29:26.9) also finished the race.
The women's race was won by Emory with 34 points, followed by Jacksonville State (86) and UNC Asheville (103). The men's race was won by Jacksonville State with 55 points, with Western Carolina (71), Emory (79), UNC Asheville (88), and Davidson (139) rounding out the top five.
Both the men's and women's teams will compete at the 2024 Southern Conference Championship on Saturday, November 2, hosted by Furman University.
