Wofford Pulls Out Draw with Furman on Senior Day

Spartanburg, S.C.- In front of the many friends and family of Wofford women's soccer's five seniors, the team pulled out a 1-1 draw with Furman to finish the regular season 4-10-4.

Seniors Caroline Doss, Alexis Mapplebeck, Haley McCaffrey, Meara Kelly and Addie Marlett were honored pregame for their dedication over the course of their four year careers here at Wofford.

Junior Ashley Grant tallied the Terriers' goal on the afternoon, cleaning up a sequence that started when senior Meara Kelly's shot deflected off the woodwork and to sophomore Saachi Bureau who couldn't get her shot off cleanly but then Grant was able to hustle into the fray, win the ball and get the shot off to put the Terriers up 1-0.

In her past four matches, the junior out of Chattanooga, Tennessee has now scored two goals to go along with an assist.

Furman countered with waves of pressure that, aside from a goal in the 60th minute, the Wofford back line soundly handled. Senior goalkeeper Caroline Doss returned to the lineup for the match and posted four saves on 14 shots faced over the course of the afternoon.

Sophomore Ines Obradovac had an opportunity to notch the game winner in the 87th minute but was unable to put her shot past the Paladin keeper. In earning the draw, Wofford is now 2-0-3 in their past five meetings with Furman.

With the point earned Wofford finishes their Southern Conference slate 2-5-2- making them the number eight seed in the upcoming conference tournament. Their opponent will be the ninth seeded VMI Keydets on Tuesday, October 24, here in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Wofford last faced VMI on the opening day of SoCon play back on Thursday, September 21, in Lexington, Virginia that saw the Terriers post their sole shut out of the season in a 2-0 win. Ines Obradovac and sophomore Isabella Steiner were the goal scorers in the winning effort.

The match's start time is 6 PM and will be streamed on ESPN+.
