Wofford Drops Hard Fought Battle with Oklahoma State

Stillwater, OK- Wofford men's basketball fell 76-70 to the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Wednesday, December 20, to round out the division-one competition portion of the non-conference schedule.

Oklahoma State connected on five of its first eight three-pointers to run its lead to 13 with at the 11:51 mark, but then the Wofford defense settled in and held the Cowboys to only 3-for-10 for the rest of the half while the offense shot 8-for-13 over the last 6:53 of the first half to shrink the Cowboy lead to just two at 37-35 at the break.

A brief Terrier lead to start the second half prompted an Oklahoma State timeout that preceded an 11-6 Cowboy run going into the first media break of the half. Wofford tied the game one final time at 48-48 courtesy of sophomore Chase Cormier hitting from deep and then Oklahoma State rattled off a 12-2 run over the next four and a half minutes that gave them the cushion necessary to stave off the waves of Terrier attempts to pull off the comeback.

Cormier connected on his third three-pointer to cut OK State's lead to four with five seconds remaining but was unable to force the turnover on the ensuing inbound and dropped the contest to move to 6-6 with one more non-conference game on the schedule- Southern Wesleyan. Wofford will host the Warriors on Friday, December 29, at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium as the final tune up game before SoCon play begins on January 3.
