JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Wofford women's golf team began its spring season of action in the Seabest Intercollegiate, placing eighth in the 14-team field at the par-72 6,084-yard San Jose Country Club.
Xuan Khue Minh Doan finished as the top Terrier in a tie for 24
th at the conclusion of the two-day event.
With a score of 910, Wofford shot 308-300-302 en route to wins over Stetson, Seminole St-FL, Presbyterian, Daytona St. College, Eastern Kentucky and Navy. Campbell won the event with a score of 890. The Terriers notched 172 pars as a team, third most in the field.
Leading the Terriers was freshman
Xuan Khue Minh Doan with her 10-over score of 226. Doan opened day one with rounds of 75 and 74 to enter day two in a tie for 10
th, but a final-round 77 would result in Doan dropping to a tie for 24
th.
Lindsey Hollis carded 76-78-74 (228) to finish two strokes behind Doan at 12-over to place in a tie for 30
th.
Lilli Horn (80-74-75) and
Nicole Amos (77-76-76) each tied for 32
nd with a score of 229.
Maggie Jackson rounds out the Wofford lineup with a score of 238 to place in a tie for 60
th.
Horn's 37 pars were most on the squad and fifth most in the field, and Jackson scored 36 pars, sixth most among the players. Amos and Doan tied for the most birdies on the team with six each.
Campbell's Isabella Hahne and USC Upstate's Praew Nontarux each scored 215 to tie for first place in the 75-player field.
Wofford will return to the links in two weeks at The Beach Invitational in Mission Viejo, Calif. The two-day event hosted by Long Beach State will run from Monday, Feb. 27 to Tuesday, Feb. 28.
