Women’s Lacrosse falls in home opener against Lehigh

SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Lehigh Mountain Hawks were able to take a commanding lead early on their way to a 17-1 win over the Wofford College women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon at Gibbs Stadium.
 
After the game was scoreless for over five minutes to start, Olivia Memeger of Lehigh was able to break the tie.  Over the remainder of the half Lehigh was able to get the lead up to 10-0. Memeger scored two of those along with Emma Eberhardt scoring two, Katia Carnevale scoring two and Casey O'Connor adding three.
 
Immediately out of the halftime break the Terriers would get on the board. Senior Brenna Duley was able to break through on the opening possession after a draw control win by freshman Barrett Rowe.

Though Wofford was able to get some other near chances at the net, the Mountain Hawks extended the lead to 13-1 after three quarters. They then added another four in the final quarter to get the final score of 17-1.  
 
Eberhardt led the game in goals with four and also added an assist, while Carnevale scored three goals as well.
 
The Terriers had 18 ground balls and redshirt freshman Lily Barger led the team on the day with four.
 
Hayley Hunt got the win for Lehigh with eight saves and was relieved in the second half by Julia DeLitta who played 25 minutes. Maggie Roberts played the final five minutes for the Mountain Hawks.
 
Aislinn Washburn played all 60 minutes for the Terriers and took the loss in goal despite making six saves.
 
The next game for the Wofford Terriers will be against the Boston University Terriers at Gibbs Stadium on Friday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m.
